About Us

The Presbytery of Gippsland covers Phillip Island and Koo Wee Rup to the west, Swifts Creek and Mt Hotham in the high country, Wilson’s Promontory, and the beaches beyond Lakes Entrance through to Mallacoota. It holds the major towns of Warragul, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale, the Latrobe Valley and many towns and villages between.

We acknowledge the Bunurong, Boon Wurrung and Gunai Kurnai peoples and commit ourselves to truth-telling, reconciliation, justice and peace for all people.

this is also
the gift God has given us,
that we might see ourselves as others see us

If Jesus
were inclined to a
more conventional start
to his public ministry, it’s likely
he would have held back
on this business of
calling disciples.

Images of
the inter-tidal zone
of transition and transformation
drift into my mind, the liminal space
of the shoreline, sometimes ocean,
sometimes soft sandy land.

The
image of
light is important
as we think of these things.
In popular usage we speak of having
an Epiphany as a ‘light-bulb’ moment,
a moment of realisation as though
someone has turned
on the light.
